American Apparel x Vaquera
It’s hard to believe that 2018 marked the first time American Apparel participated in New York Fashion Week—but it’s certainly not our last. To mark the occasion, we partnered with Vaquera for their Fall 2018 Ready-To-Wear show.
Vaquera started as an underground Brooklyn label, founded in 2013 as a reaction to the lack of diversity in the contemporary fashion scene (a mission that aligns with our own).
Since then, the brand has emerged as a major player, known for their daring statements on the runway.
As part of this collaboration, a selection of American Apparel’s white polo dresses served as the canvas for Vaquera’s design team to remix and reimagine.
The result was a series of bold, unisex one-pieces featuring the painted likenesses of four fashion icons: Vivienne Westwood, Adrover, Andre Walker and Martin Margiela. It was a match made in fashion week heaven.
